GraceWorks helps our Neighbors with their tangible needs with food, rent and utility assistance and multiple other programs.
But an equal part of our mission of Neighbor serving Neighbor is supporting families in distress with a listening ear, compassionate care and hope.
Judith*, a single mother of a daughter, lost her job several weeks before she found GraceWorks. We were able to help her with a shopping cart full of food and support for her rent and utility bills. She was also referred to Workforce Essentials for help in securing employment.
All were important assistances, and all helped her to make a new start in her life and the life of her little daughter.
But what struck her the most was the caring attitude and hope she found at GraceWorks.
“I cannot express how much this means to us,” she wrote in an email. “Thank you for praying with me. It was moving and what I needed today!”
Praying with our Neighbors is an important component of GraceWorks’ ministry. Each Neighbor is offered prayer, and most accept it. Many are hungry not only for the groceries from our Food Pantry, but also for what prayer brings to them – comfort, hope and the realization they are not alone.
