Many Neighbors seeking help say they are comforted by the prayers offered by staff and volunteers in conversations about their needs. It’s part of GraceWorks’ mission of Neighbor serving Neighbor.
Recently, in the same week, our GraceWorker Manager realized just how strongly our Neighbors believe in the power of prayer.
Julie* brought her three children along to see if she could get a washer and dryer. Hers had stopped working long ago. She didn’t have the money to replace them, and she was forced to use a local laundromat. Even that was getting expensive, and she hoped GraceWorks could help her.
GraceWorks doesn’t usually have washers or dryers available, but that day one of each was standing in the store. Thanks to someone who donated these appliances, GraceWorks was able to give them with no charge to Julie’s family.
“They said they had prayed all the way to GraceWorks that we would have a washer and dryer, and we did,” the manager said. “They were so grateful.”
Later that week, the manager was conversing with Marcia*, a single mother of two.
“I told her that I wished I could connect her with others, but because of confidentiality we can’t do that,” the manager said.
Marcia understood, but she brought up another solution.
“Well, the next person you talk to who is in my situation, please tell her someone is praying for her,” Marcia said.
