GraceWorks Turkey Trot: A Record-Breaking 25th Anniversary Celebration
Thanksgiving morning dawned with chilly temperatures and rain predictions, but that didn’t deter a record 4,230 participants from coming together for the 25th Annual GraceWorks Turkey Trot. This milestone event shattered last year’s attendance by over 1,000 participants, showcasing the community’s unwavering support for GraceWorks’ mission to provide Food, Shelter, and Support for struggling families.
Presented by Jackson and Atmos Energy, this year’s Turkey Trot included a 10K, 5K, and the Kids Turkey Chase, raising an incredible $252,000 to fund GraceWorks’ vital programs. From serious runners to families dressed in festive costumes like turkey hats, Pilgrim gear, and even superhero attire, the event truly embodied the spirit of togetherness and gratitude.
“This continued collaboration underscores our commitment to fueling safe and thriving communities by supporting GraceWorks in their mission to offer vital food and energy assistance to our Neighbors in need,” said Christina Christiansen, Atmos Energy Manager of Public Affairs.
At the start line, Niya Moon, Jackson Manager of Corporate Philanthropy, cheered on participants, adding to the electric energy of the morning.
GraceWorks CEO Alicia Bell shared her excitement, saying, “The energy was incredible! We were overjoyed with a record-busting year. The numbers were amazing, but what warmed my heart the most was experiencing the heart of this community. Those 4,230 participants didn’t just come to Trot; they came to love their Neighbors, and you could feel that unity in our community!”
Over the past 29 years, GraceWorks has stood as a Christ-centered nonprofit community resource center, dedicated to uplifting families in need through compassionate care. The Turkey Trot has become a beloved Thanksgiving tradition, where the community comes together to not only race but also to make a meaningful impact in the lives of their neighbors.
Whether walking, running, or cheering from the sidelines, every participant and sponsor helped make this year’s event a resounding success. We’re already looking forward to next year as we continue to Trot for a cause!
