A few weeks ago, a single mother of four who is struggling financially came to the Food Pantry to pick up groceries. She shared how grateful she was not only for the food, but also for the clothing voucher we provided.
The voucher allowed her to buy much-needed clothes for her daughters, but even more than that, it allowed her to buy clothes for one daughter who was celebrating her birthday that same day.
“My daughter will wear something new on her birthday,” she told us.
When we also gave her a fun Birthday Bag, which contains cake mix, candles, icing, and balloons, she was so surprised and thankful.
We love moments like these because even when we can’t solve every problem people face, we can still bring smiles, dignity, and a sense of hope when everything feels dark.
