One of our staff members, Denise, shared this neighbor story:
In April, a neighbor named Sarah* came to GraceWorks for housing assistance. She was having trouble keeping up with her expenses after a miscarriage led to three back-to-back surgeries.
The first surgery had many complications, one of which was how it affected her vocal cords. When Sarah spoke to me, I could barely understand her because her voice had a monotone, robotic sound.
She said she had seen a lot of specialists, but they all said she was fine and that her normal voice would return in six months. She was crying as she told me that her voice scared her children, and that they didn’t like speaking to her anymore.
As a mom, that broke my heart, so I told her we were going to pray that God would return her voice in less than six months.
Her voice was supposed to come back by the end of October, but I received a message from her on August 10:
“Thank you so much, Denise! . . . the prayers worked! I have my voice back! Thank you for being so kind and praying over us then!”
God is always on the move!
