One of our staff members Renée shared this inspiring Neighbor Story with us:
Recently I ran into Lauren*, a Neighbor who has been living between shelters and motels with her teenage daughter for several months. She has been coming to GraceWorks for basic needs like food and clothing just to survive while looking for solutions.
She proudly showed me a photo of a home on her phone and tearfully told me, “I got a house! God is so good to me.”
She explained that she found out about a subsidized job skill training program at her local library and signed up right away. She will soon be certified in a medical-related profession and earn more than enough to provide for herself and her daughter.
Grinning and shaking her head in disbelief, she told me that right after moving into her new home with nearly nothing, members of her local church started bringing her gifts, from Tupperware to a TV, without her ever asking.
She continues to bring friends to GraceWorks who are still trying to get off the streets. We praised God together and prayed that her story would lead to many others finding hope and meeting the Lord.
