One of our regular Food Pantry volunteers has formed a bond with a certain neighbor and enjoys catching up with her each month.
This neighbor has been worn down by ongoing chemo and radiation treatments. She’s also a single mom making less than $800/month who is caregiving for her special needs adult son. Every time she visits us, she says, “I am so exhausted.”
Today, she came in particularly excited to see her favorite volunteer. She had big news: “I went to the doctor this morning and found out I’m cancer free!”
We had the chance to celebrate with her and share a big hug before she left.
