CEO Letter: Aim High and Sigh

I found myself in a wooded campground filled with bowhunters a few years ago. My husband, who had recently learned to make bows and arrows by hand, thought a day trip to the Twin Oaks Bowhunters TN Classic would be fun. I was skeptical.

I learned many things at this gathering. First—archers are a contagious combination of artisans, athletes, and nature lovers. Second—I need more upper body strength.

Third, and most fascinating—there is rhythmic breathing that the best archers use. Breath in, raise bow, release breath to 80%, hold breath, aim, shoot and sigh. This rhythm helps you hold steady to aim accurately.

GraceWorks has a high aim. We aren’t just shooting for certain numbers or a nice reputation (both of which are admirable and desirable!). But, our aim is a bit higher. Our bullseye is the Lord’s will. We aim to be faithful to His vision, His love, and His economy. Sometimes, being faithful doesn’t result in achieving certain numbers and everyone understanding you. Let’s not forget, Noah built a boat on dry land and David showed up to a fight with a few pebbles.

GraceWorks has been holding our breath and aiming for the last few months as we prepare for our new fiscal year, which starts in July. On June 23, our board approved a new strategic plan and budget.

I am excited to share more with you about our strategic plan next month. We’ve been looking at the target for a while, and now it is time shoot and sigh. So, I invite you to sigh with us. Pray for GraceWorks as we surrender our plans and our aim to the Lord. May His will be done. May our boat float and our pebbles defeat the giant!

If you are looking for ways to participate in GraceWorks as we launch into a new fiscal year, consider the following:

  • Pray for the Lord’s will at GraceWorks.
  • Tell a friend about GraceWorks. Consider sharing this video with someone and inviting them for a tour.
