A Story Worth Repeating

As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of GraceWorks, we’ve been looking back on untold stories—stories like Katie’s. Her life was transformed because of your generosity.

When Katie found out she was pregnant, she had no family nearby to lean on, and she struggled to keep up with rent and bills. That’s when she reached out to GraceWorks.

“I had no one here,” Katie shared. “No family, no emotional support. It was just me.”

As she struggled to keep up with rent, bills, and the cost of essentials, she knew she couldn’t make it on her own. That’s when she reached out to GraceWorks.

We helped her stay in her home, keep the electricity on, and prepare for her new baby. That gave Katie the peace and rest she needed to focus on the most important thing in her life—bringing her son into the world.

But our journey with Katie was just beginning.

Her son Thomas was born prematurely and had to spend time in the neonatal intensive care unit. On top of that, he needed expensive formula because of his health issues.

Katie was overwhelmed. Not only was she fearful for her child, but she also didn’t know how she’d pay for the formula Thomas needed to grow strong and healthy.

GraceWorks was able to step in and cover the cost of the formula. And we also offered Katie something she desperately needed: community.

“GraceWorks became my support system,” she said. When her family couldn’t be there, we were.

For two years, GraceWorks provided wrap-around support for Katie, from helping with rent to supplying diapers.

Thomas is now a healthy, growing baby, and Katie has family close by to support her.

She’s so grateful GraceWorks walked beside her during one of the most trying seasons of her life.

“GraceWorks didn’t just help me,” she said, “They stood with me when I needed it the most.”

Because of our generous donors, we were able to turn Katie’s moment of struggle into a story of hope. That’s a story worth repeating.

As we look to the next thirty years at GraceWorks, our prayer is that we’ll continue serving neighbors the way we served Katie. Because where grace works, stories change.

Will you donate today and help us write tomorrow’s stories of hope?
